Frequenty Asked Questions

We do things a bit differently than other farms! Here's some highlights, get in touch if you need clarification.

  • Our online store IS our CSA, we don't require an upfront payment and there's no on-going commitment
  • The ordering window opens on Thursday afternoons (generally after 2pm) and closes the following Monday at 7am.
  • Ordering opens when our weekly newsletter arrives in your inbox to let you know what's available for the week. Subscribing to our newsletter is not mandatory but it can help to serve as a reminder to place your order every week.
  • Orders are harvested, washed and packed on Tuesdays. They can be picked up Weds-Friday between 8am and 6pm.
  • We only deliver once a week on Thursday mornings.

Four ways to get our produce:

  • Shop online: Make your selections, type in any notes for us by opening your cart and looking for the notes function in the lower right side of the page, choose delivery or pick-up and choose your payment method.
  • Order by email: subscribe to our weekly newsletter, when it arrives in your inbox, review the produce list and and reply with:
    • the items and quantities you'd like.
    • your phone number in case we have any questions.
    • your choice of pickup or delivery
  • Shop in person at the Seasonal Farm Stand: Open May-October from 3pm-6pm on Thursdays and Fridays
  • Shop our booth at the Philomath Farmer's Market, Sundays June through October 11am to 3pm, at the Philomath Community Library (1050 Applegate St.)

Details about online store and email orders

    • All orders are harvested and processed on Tuesdays
    • Deadline to order is 7am Mondays. If you aren't an early riser, place your order the same day you get the newsletter
    • If you are picking up at the farm, your order may be picked up the following Wednesday through Friday between 8am and 6pm.
    • If you've opted for delivery, please read the deliveries category below

    Deliveries

    • Deliveries will be made on Thursday mornings between 7am and 11am
    • We only deliver to Philomath and Corvallis addresses
    • You must place your order no later than 7am Monday mornings
    • The minimum for delivery is $15 (we will make exceptions for smaller households of 2 people or less but you must let us know in advance of placing your order)
    • There is a $1 delivery fee on top of your produce order
    • If you don't plan to be home during the delivery window, please leave a cooler out for us
    • If you didn't pay online, please leave your payment in the cooler or somewhere visible to us
    • If we arrive at your doorstep before 8am, we will not be knocking to announce your produce arrival unless you request us to do so

How do I pick up at the farm? Look for the funky purple building at the end of the driveway with the Sunbow signs on it. Feel free to park in the driveway to the west of this building. You'll find your order in the fridge or on the counter, depending on what you ordered. Sometimes we'll split your order into multiple bags because we like to do right by our produce so you might find a bag with non-refrigerated goods on the table or counter while your "best when kept cold" goods will be chilling in the fridge.

     Parking

    • Please do not block the entry/exit points in the driveway
    • Go ahead and park directly in front of the market room door
    • Please try to position your vehicle to allow others to come and go around the driveway loop

What do you grow? We grow more than sixty different vegetables and fruits. We grow and sell year-round through the use of season extenders (hoop houses, crop covers, etc), storage rooms, and refrigeration.

What forms of payment do you take? We accept cash, Farm Direct checks (WIC), personal checks, credit/debit cards and our farm currency, Sunbacks. We also take SNAP but you must sign up in advance for this option. Please send us an email if you want to use your SNAP to shop with us.

Do you offer a CSA? Our CSA isn't like other farms. Our version of Community Supported Agriculture is to let you choose exactly what you want through our newsletter and online store. You support agriculture by shopping with us!

Do you sell wholesale? Yes, we can provide some items at wholesale quantities and prices. Selection is based on availability and changes often. Please send an email requesting a list of what is currently available wholesale, and include information on how to become a new vendor with your organization.

Do you take “special requests?” We want you to be happy with our product and are willing to discuss your request with you but cannot guarantee that we can make it happen.  Sometimes the nature of the request doesn't make sense for us logistically. You never know unless you ask!

Customer satisfaction We welcome your feedback! We do what we can to ensure that all customers get the best of what we have to offer when we pick and pack your food but you know, "stuff" happens and you might notice something we missed.  If that's the case, please let us know.  We'll make it right for you.

Is there a minimum order? Orders picked up on the farm don't require a minimum amount. Order exactly what you'd like: nothing more, nothing less.

What are Sunbacks? A great way to get bonus food, support Sunbow Produce, and keep your money working locally. Our colorful farm currency is available as an electronic gift card code (for shopping our online store) or in paper. They come in increments of $5, which buys $5 of our produce and dried goods, year round! The minimum order is $50. They don’t expire, and you can use them along with dollars and cents. They make an excellent gift too!
